YOUNG CAR MECHANIC COMPETITION PARTNER: SCHAEFFLER

Since 2019, Schaeffler has been collaborating with Inter Cars in the Young Car Mechanic contest, preparing interesting tasks for young mechanics fascinated by the automotive industry. At both the national and international finals, the brand makes every effort to deliver the highest possible level of knowledge and practical skills, which will be important tools in the hands of young automotive students in the future.

Schaeffler Know-How and the Young Car Mechanic Contest

Each year, the company raises the bar by presenting increasingly technologically advanced tasks related to the replacement or adjustment of components and modules from Schaeffler's range.

Despite the complex and quite demanding content, Schaeffler's tasks are characterized by a simple principle – the ability to read with understanding and perform all contest activities according to the attached instructions. Even the best mechanic cannot remember all the data and work sequences, so the work of a good workshop includes the ability to use instructions and service data.

During the six editions of the Young Car Mechanic contest, many young mechanics with very diverse skills in using instructions have passed through Schaeffler's station, which translated into final results and contest rankings. Schaeffler acknowledges that the training level of the Young Car Mechanic contest participants is clearly increasing year by year.

To emphasize the complexity of Schaeffler's contest tasks, it is enough to recall that in 2024, during the national finals, the task was to replace a 2CT dual clutch in a VW group's 0AM gearbox known as DSG, and at the international finals in Vilnius, Lithuania, the task was to replace 3 chains in the timing drive area of a 1.8 TSI engine from the VW group. Despite such complex tasks, many participants managed to complete them fully, and only time differences allowed for the selection of the winner.
